One of around 20 different card games you can play online, Texas Holdem poker is played with a Limit, Pot Limit or No Limit structure, with No Limit Holdem being the most popular. Beginners sometimes start with Limit Holdem.
Holdem can be played Heads Up (2 players), 6 Max (up to 6 players) or Full Ring (up to 10 players).
Preflop each player is dealt two hole cards. The Small Blind and Big Blind make forced bets and action starts left of the Big Blind.
In this hand Hero holds 6♥ 6♠ and faces a raise. In the Big Blind Hero's options are to fold, call or re-raise (3bet). Hero calls.
On the flop three community cards are dealt. Action starts left of the Button.
In this hand Hero checks, faces a bet on J♠ 2♥ J♦ , raises and is 3bet. Hero calls.
On the turn one more community card is dealt. Action starts left of the Button.
Hero check/calls another bet on the J♥ turn.
On the river one final community card is dealt. Action starts left of the Button.
On the 4♠ river, Hero check/calls again with a full house. The final pot size is $4.60.
After all betting rounds the last aggressor turns his hand face up if called. Any player with the winning hand must also reveal their cards in order to claim the pot.
